Pet Parade of Homes

The Pet Parade of Homes is a unique event that combines education, creativity, and furry companions. This event is an opportunity for students in grades K-12 to showcase their design and building skills by creating homes for their beloved pets. Participants are required to follow a rubric that outlines specific requirements for their homes, including materials used, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. Judges will evaluate each home based on the rubric and award prizes to the top entries. This event encourages students to engage in STEM education and exercise their creativity while bonding with their pets.

NIBCA Construction Trades Sign On Bonus/Scholarship Award

Application Deadline: April 1

The North Idaho Building Contractors Association (NIBCA) Education Committee is dedicated to workforce development in North Idaho. Our goals include providing and supporting youth education and career awareness in the building industry and promoting the NIBCA and the opportunities it provides for our community and the building industry. We understand there are different paths available to young people looking to get into the trades and that may mean going to a Trade School, attending a 4-year University, or going directly into the workforce. The goal of this committee is to provide an Award that will financially assist students focusing on trade school or entering directly into the workforce in a certified apprenticeship program. In that effort, we have added a Sign On Bonus for those students entering directly into the workforce. There will be five Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 awarded to any high school senior in the five northern counties committed to a career related to or supporting the building industry.

The $1,000 Sign On Bonus will be distributed $250 on the first day of employment and the remaining $750 after 90 days. Sign On Bonuses may or may not be matched by the employer. The $1,000 Scholarships will be distributed $250 the first semester of the program and $750 the second semester of the program.

To be considered for an award, students must be graduating from high school in the spring, must reside in the five northern counties of Idaho and must be entering a career or program related to the building industry. All materials must be received by April 1 to be considered. Students will be awarded at their high school award night and will be invited, along with parents, to attend an NIBCA general membership meeting in the fall.
